Fatah: Israel plans to separate West Bank from Gaza

Ramallah - Fatah said Israel aims at cutting off the Gaza Strip from the West Bank and "end the Palestinian national project," a party spokesman said Wednesday.
Ahmad Assaf said the movement denounced all interim solutions "affecting the territorial integrity of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967."
Israel has taken advantage of Hamas-Fatah rivalry, he said, adding that a recent statement by Israeli Transport Minister Yisrael Katz calling for the Strip's disjointing "clearly shows Israel is seeking to separate the West Bank from Gaza."
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority cabinet urged Israel on Monday to implement the 2005 Movement and Access agreement, which guarantees safe passage of Palestinians between Gaza and the West Bank.
"Such a measure would contribute to the geographic unity of the homeland and would, as the government stressed, enable it to instantly launch the implementation of the Gaza Reconstruction Plan as well as developmental projects, similar to those implemented in the West Bank including Jerusalem," minutes read.
