Carmel Agrexco campaigners on trial in London: letter from activists seeking support

We are two women who are on trial on the 26th October for taking part in a protest which intended to blockade Carmel Agrexco in the run up to Valentines Day 2009.
This was part of a week of action called to protest their activities during this busy time for their produce, and ours was as an all women affinity group.
We have been accused of obstructing police officers and one of us has been charged with assaulting a police officer. This is the second time that people have been brought to court for actions against Carmel Agrexco’s depot in London as Agrexco have tried to avoid any questioning of their business in court since 2005.
We took this action against Carmel Agrexco in solidarity with the Palestinian people on whose land the flowers, fruits and vegetables that Agrexco exports are grown. Carmel Agrexco directly profits from the Israeli occupation which colonises Palestine. These goods are grown in the rich soils of the Jordan Valley; where the indigenous people are prevented from building houses, schools, accessing water and whose labour is exploited in Agrexco owned settlement packing houses. The sale and distribution of goods produced in settlements must be resisted in the countries which receive them as exports – and the UK is the most important of export market for Agrexco.
We are writing this to send to Palestinian people and organisations to express our solidarity with their struggle against the brutal colonisation of their country they face and which Carmel Agrexco is complicit in.

The trial will be held between the 26 – 29 October 2009 at Uxbridge magistrates court in West London.
