Gaza - Israeli authorities opened the Kerem Shalom crossing into Gaza on Sunday to allow the transfer of humanitarian goods and the limited export of strawberries and flowers from the coastal enclave while the Karni crossing remained closed, a Palestinian border official told Ma'an.
The official, Raed Fattouh, said between 55 and 65 truckloads of humanitarian aid, agricultural and commercial goods, will enter via Kerem Shalom to the south of Gaza.
Additionally, limited quantities of industrial and domestic gas will be transferred, Fattouh said. According to OCHA the amount of cooking gas that entered this week was more than twice the quantity that entered during the last week (914 tonnes vs. 424 tonnes). The Gas Stations Owners Association (GSOA), however, indicated that at least 2,000 tonnes of cooking gas have to be transferred into Gaza, without interruption, on a weekly basis (at least 250 tonnes per day) to overcome the ongoing shortfall in the gas.
One truck of cut carnations and two trucks of strawberries will be exported through the same crossing.
