It's not enough for us to be critical of U.S. policy toward Israel/Palestine. We have to build the skills we need to become more effective grassroots advocates for policy change and put these skills into effect by meeting with our elected officials to discuss our concerns.
Our Grassroots Advocacy Training and Lobbying Day allows you to do both. Learn more about the event and register for it today by clicking here.
Learn more about this and other things you can do to help us build a national movement to change U.S. policy toward Palestine/Israel to support human rights, international law, and equality below:
1. Attend the US Campaign/Interfaith Peace-Builders Grassroots Advocacy Training and Lobby Day, March 7-8 in Washington, DC. Build your skills as a grassroots advocate for a just peace in Palestine/Israel and meet with your Members of Congress to press for an end to Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip and other important policy issues. To learn more and to register, please click here.
2. Join the US Campaign's Congressional District Coordinator (CDC) network. Since we re-launched our network with an interactive Congressional district map last October, more than 100 people in 25+ states and 75 Congressional districts have signed up to coordinate efforts with us to educate their Members of Congress on policy issues. Find out who is organizing in your Congressional district, check out our map, and sign up to be a CDC by clicking here.
3. Find out "How Much Military Aid to Israel?" Check out our new website http://www.aidtoisrael.org to find out how much money your state and county provide in military aid to Israel and what else this money could be used for to fund unmet domestic needs. While visiting the website, you can also learn more about the effect of military aid to Israel on Palestinian civilians, "offset" your taxes that go toward Israeli military occupation, take action against President Obama's FY2011 budget request for $3 billion in military aid to Israel, and help us spread the word about this campaign. Get started by clicking here.
4. "Cheer or Jeer" Your Representative for Signing or Not a "Dear "Colleague" Letter on the Gaza Blockade. On January 21, 2010, 54 Representatives sent President Obama a letter that termed Israel's blockade of the occupied Gaza Strip as "de facto collective punishment" and called on the United States to press Israel "for immediate relief for the citizens of Gaza." It's not to late to "cheer or jeer" your Representative for his/her stance on this letter. Find out more and take action by clicking here.
5. Make a tax-deductible contribution to the US Campaign to support our efforts to change U.S. policy toward Israel/Palestine to support human rights, international law, and equality. Make a secure on-line contribution by clicking here or call us in the office at 202-332-0994 to make a contribution by credit card.
