The Alternative Information Center (AIC) (www.alternativenews.org), a joint Palestinian-Israeli organization engaged in dissemination of information, political advocacy, grassroots activism and critical analysis, has an internship opening for a journalist writing on topics related to Jerusalem.
Position Specification:
· Writing of 2-3 daily articles on Jerusalem
· Assisting in writing of fact sheets, press releases and other information related to Jerusalem
· Gathering of primary research material and checking background information
· Assisting Jerusalem Project Coordinator with preparation of material for meetings, presentations and alternative tours
· Additional tasks and responsibilities as mutually agreed upon
Person Specifications
· Commitment to AIC values and Palestinian-Israeli-international work.
· Good knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly regarding Jerusalem.
· Strong writing skills, including ability to read and effectively utilize large quantities of information
· Strong research skills, including the use of internet for research purposes
· Well organised and able to work effectively, both independently and with others.
· Native language – English (sorry, there can be no exceptions)
Additional Details
Location: The intern will work from the Jerusalem office of the AIC.
Hours: The internship is 35 hours each work and working days are Sunday-Thursday.
Starting date: April 2009.
Stipend: A monthly internship stipend is available.
